In June of 2020, I attended the Advanced Creating Accessible Documents: Adobe PDF training hosted by Vision Australia. With the main takeaways I learnt from the course, I delivered 4 training sessions within the EY internal design & development groups in the mid of July, to advocate the accessibility awareness in the practice of building digital content and applications and aiming for “Design & build to be accessible”.

Context
To fall under the Australian Disability Discrimination Act and create accessible digital contents working for the public, our Digital & Emerging Technology team is contracting with a number of government bodies to not only run Accessibility Audits and remediate unaccessible issues for their documents and websites, but also thrive to make our digital deliverables fully comply with WCAG 2.0 AA Standards as well as simpler, faster and easier for users to access.

What I delivered

Delivered 4 training session within the EY internal design & development groups.

Live demoed to the groups of how to run Accessibility assessment, adjust reading order, fix wrong tag structure, add alt-text to figures, fix hyper link structure and check colour contrast to meet AA standards.

Provided accessibility and usability consulting for Act Government, Department of the prime Minister and Cabinet, and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (WCAG 2.0 AA compliance, website/document assessment and remediation).

Resource for project managers, developers, and designers on best practices, legal framework and standards.
